covers that tell the story

Yes. Books are judged by their covers.

Book design is a passion. Cover design should seamlessly continue when the book is opened, as great architecture and tasteful interiors work as one.

Passover Haggadah

Passover Haggadah

Passover is a family holiday; this non-traditional Passover haggadah is perfect for engaging the young as well as the adult family members.

A cover to honor the lifelong work of Dr. Louis Goldberg.

Change at the Core

Change at the Core

Change catalyst and public speaker Wendy Mack co-authored a book to complement her dynamic speaking engagements. Using the symbol of the atom communicates that the kind of change Wendy addresses is change at the most basic level.

Again, religious themes can be difficult to depict. Fortunately, Jewish ceremonial items are fun to photograph and to use in design. The tallit (prayer shawl) is one of the most beautiful, with dancing stripes, and gorgeous draping quality, superimposed, here on the loneliness of a desert walk.

The Importance of Faith in Counseling

The Importance of Faith in Counseling

Faith, like other religious and philosophical concepts can often leave the designer clueless. Using images that show the seasons is an oblique reference to faith—the belief that fall will follow summer, then winter, then spring. The trust that it will happen again. And again.

Joy Comes in the Morning

Joy Comes in the Morning

Sun coming through a tall paned window onto a warm hardwood floor was the perfect image to convey the joy that comes after a long dark night. Sometimes a title just doesn't grab. That's when the book cover must make a promise to the reader that opening the book will ultimately fulfill. Here, by using an unexpected division of text and a photo that identifies the reader with the student, the cover takes a mundane title and promises something unexpected, which the book delivers.

Jumpstart Your Job

Jumpstart Your Job

Two familiar images that don't normally go together combined with clean, bright colors grab the buyer’s attention. The client was emphatic that the illustration needed to be realistic to work. In creating a double-take that implies out-of-the-box thinking, the cover promises a book that will have that same positive impact on the reader.

The Case of the Hopeless Marriage

The Case of the Hopeless Marriage

The word “hopeless” stares back at the reader as the husband and wife stare across the wide chasm of the long table. They are not fighting. Their body language says “resignation.” The dark emptiness that dominates this center of the cover conveys the gravity of the title. The book offers hope for what ails this couple, but the graphics underscore the edginess of the title, acknowledging and respecting the difficulty and pain.
